Each year we recruit a select number of high quality graduates who display real management potential. Good A-level grades and a First-class or 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent are required, preferably in a business-related degree. You will also need to be an effective communicator with a confident manner, keen to develop a broad-based career in the car industry.
We offer work placements for students studying a degree with the option of completing a year in industry. We are looking for dedicated individuals anticipating achievement at university of 2:1/1st class degree, ideally in their penultimate year of study in a business related subject, though all applicants will be considered on their own merits. Recent graduates will also be considered.
I graduated with a 2:1 degree in Human Geography from Cardiff University. During my time at university I always wanted to progress to a career in the automotive industry, with Mitsubishi being one of the fastest growing mainstream car brands in the UK it especially appealed to me. I joined the Mitsubishi graduate scheme in June 2016, since then I have worked on real world projects which directly influence the company. In my time with the company as Residual Value Planner I have travelled all over the country from attending meetings in rural Yorkshire to conferences in central London. The company has given me plenty of opportunities to really drive myself and use skills gained from university.
I studied a joint honours degree in Business Management, Marketing Management and Branding at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham. After graduating with first class honours, I joined Mitsubishi Motors in the UK on a Graduate Placement in June 2015. Mitsubishi was the perfect opportunity for me, combining my passion and knowledge of the automotive industry with the relevant skill-sets I had developed and refined throughout 4 years at university.
I am currently in my fifth, and now permanent position since joining Mitsubishi nearly 2 years ago. Within that timeframe I’ve gained experience working in Communications, Sales Operations, Product & Residual Values and Aftersales. Working across a diverse array of departments has provided me with significant exposure to different areas of the business, and I have been fortunate enough to continuously grow and develop through new challenges presented in each role undertaken.
I studied Business and Management at Aston University in Birmingham, which included a placement year in the automotive industry. After gaining invaluable experience I graduated knowing that I wanted to work for a company that I admire in an industry that I love, and Mitsubishi fitted perfectly. The people around me have been fantastic since I started and have guided and coached me, pushing me out of my comfort zone on so many occasions, but teaching me so much along the way. It has been both demanding and rewarding, but I certainly couldn’t imagine it any other way.
I studied Marketing, Advertising and Communications at the University of Gloucestershire and I joined the Mitsubishi Motors Graduate Scheme in June 2014. After graduating from University I knew that I wanted to get myself onto a graduate scheme in the automotive industry as I had completed work in this industry during my placement year and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was attracted to the Mitsubishi graduate scheme because there was the opportunity to work in various different areas of the business, which has given me the chance to gain experience in job roles that I may not have applied for outside of the scheme.
Now in a permanent role as a Partnerships Co-ordinator, I work in the Press and Events team; as Mitsubishi are currently dedicating support to rugby, I am involved with five clubs, from local league and union clubs up to the elite teams of England and Scotland. The role varies massively – I can be involved in activating our partnerships to ensure we have a strong presence on match day to assisting at a rugby press announcement. From organising player’s vehicles and our bigger partner fleets to designing and fitting players and coaches seat at Twickenham Stadium, it’s a fast paced yet rewarding role!
Upon graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 2013 after studying Business Administration BA (Hons) I focused on finding a job in the motor industry and luckily enough I was offered a job with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK. Being a graduate within Mitsubishi Motors isn’t like any other graduate job as you are placed in real roles by where you are forced to learn very quickly, it provides a great opportunity to work for a globally recognised brand but with the atmosphere of a family business. In the short time I have been with Mitsubishi Motors I’ve worked in the Service/Training, Sales Operations and Product Planning departments, in turn each giving me a very different insight into the business with added responsibility and challenges along the way. Through-out this time I played an integral part in the development and implementation of the Mitsubishi Learning Portal, Mitsubishi Approved Used Car website and the launching of the 2016 Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) into the UK market.
At the beginning of 2016 I became a Corporate Sales Manager, looking after UK Public Sector organisations such as the NHS and Local Authorities as well as Specialist Vehicle sales to the likes of the Police and Fire & Rescue Services. Again, this was another step up in responsibility and associated challenges, effectively managing my own time, meetings and ensuring I accomplish quarterly sales objectives, all of which was very alien to me. I truly believe that the rate of learning and experience I have gained from starting as a Graduate at Mitsubishi Motors in the UK exceeds that of most other automotive manufacturers and probably a large proportion of corporate graduate schemes as well.
I chose to do a course which offered a placement year, as I wanted the opportunity to experience a year in the automotive industry and use this to find out if this was what I wanted to pursue long-term. My year at Mitsubishi has given me a basis for my dissertation, which I’ll need to complete when I return to studying Business Management with Marketing at the University of the West of England and I’ve gained some vital skills to help me in my final year. Most importantly, the placement has made me feel much more confident about getting a graduate job after university and I hope to stay in the automotive industry.
